Ambra Mattioli | Space Oddity | The Voice Senior
"For me, music is colour. Not the painting.
My music allows me to paint myself.”
— David Bowie
Aladdin Insane celebrate the music of David Bowie with a tribute that is raw, demanding, and uncompromising.
Every performance is strictly live—no backing tracks, no loops, no sequencers—and always in the original keys. Bowie’s vast and complex repertoire is approached with respect, precision, and genuine passion, creating shows that are intense, emotional, and deeply engaging.
At the heart of the band is Ambra Mattioli, whose voice and stage presence define the identity of Aladdin Insane. Her interpretation of Bowie is powerful, authentic, and widely recognized for its depth and originality.
Music writer Dave Thompson has cited Ambra several times in his book The Freakiest Show: David Bowie Cover Versions, dedicating pages and photographs to her work. Her talent also crosses into cinema: director Andrea Pallaoro casts her in the film Hannah, presented at the 74th Venice Film Festival, starring Charlotte Rampling, winner of the Volpi Cup.
To date, Aladdin Insane are the only band in the world to have performed David Bowie’s final album Blackstar entirely live and in the original keys—an album conceived exclusively for the studio and considered one of the most challenging works to bring to the stage.
For Aladdin Insane, this is not just a tribute.
It is an act of love, discipline, and respect—for Bowie, for music, and for the truth of live performance.
